28th State Conference of ABVP Pashchim Banga unit will be held in Kolkata from April 9 to 10

The 28th State Conference of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishath (ABVP), will be held in Kolkata from April 9 to 10. About 125 delegates from various districts of the Pashchim Banga (West Bengal) and Sikkim unit are expected to participate in the two day conference.

Review of education policies of the government both at Central and State levels, impact of globalization on education, commercialization of education, corruption of UPA gevernment and many other issues concerning student welfare are the key points that would be discussed at the meet.

Issues relating to national integrity and security, status of economy, inflation, current political situation in West Bengal and several other topics will also be talked about.

ABVP: 24hrs Hunger Strike against Corruption in Kolkata

Kolkata: Over 150 Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists in the city went on a 24 hours hunger strike on 17th Feb Thursday, 12 pm and is scheduled to continue till 18th Feb 12 pm 2011 at College Squire, in front of Calcutta University, Kolkata.

"This hunger strike has been called against loot of common people by present Central Government through various scams. ABVP has decided to intensify fight against corruption in the entire country through mass movement, ABVP will try to expose threesome, i.e., Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, which is responsible for scams like Adarsh Society, CWG, 2G specturm and in appointment of tainted peron on important post like CVC. ABVP demands resignation of so called "Mr Clean" Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on morality ground seems to be helpless in corruption issue, supporting corrupt people an also for his irresponsible statements regarding on going corruption." said Parul Mondal, State Secretary of ABVP.
This hunger strike is being held simultaneously by ABVP students in all the State capitals in the Country she added.

ABVP to launch indefinite agitation over price rise

Kolkata, Feb 16 : The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) will launch an indefinite agitation throughout the country against the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre over the price rise issue, party National Secretary Parul Mandal said here today.
Addressing a press conference here, Ms Mandal said, ''the Centre is responsible for the acute price hike much to the discomfort of the common people.
''Inflation is also shooting up to record levels of 18 per cent with an endless series of scams, including the Commonwealth Games, 2G Spectrum and Adarsh Housing society scam destroying the social fabric.'' She said the UPA government was responsible to control the commodities' hike as the Centre was involved in a series of scams.
We are asking the student community of the country to protest against the issue,'' she said.
The ABVP would organise a two-day nationwide students' hunger strike on February 17 and 18 in all the state capaitals against the price rise and scams.
The party workers would also organise 'March the Parliament House' on the issue on March 4 where at least 10,000 students will participate, she said.

ABVP West Bengal Unit organized a massive protest rally against corruption in the Central UPA Govt. and the defamatory comments of Mr. Rahul Gandhi

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), West Bengal Unit, had organized a massive protest-cum-rally against corruption in the Central United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government and the defamatory comments of Mr. Rahul Gandhi. The five-hundred strong ABVP karyakartas commenced at College Square wherein speeches were delivered along with forceful demonstrations by the youthful gathering. Then, the rally proceeded towards Metro Channel where mammoth demonstrations were held with strong, informative and vigorous speeches by Ms. Parul Mandal, National Secretary, ABVP and others. She led the protest demonstration and the gathering. The programme concluded with effigies of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, and Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, being immolated. 

This was in furtherance of a Resolution at the National Conference of the ABVP, December 2010, inter alia, to hold nationwide protests against large-scale, massive corruption prevalent in the Congress Governments thrughout the length and breadth of India, be it in Maharashtra or the Centre. ABVP shall continue with these protests till the Central UPA Government resigns in response to these corruption scandals. ABVP shall remain seized of the matter as corruption hurts all and sundry, students included.
